After installing the trial of 2018 I have lost thumbnail preview of all Corel files. I tried setting default application back to 2017, but that didn't help.
Any suggestions?

select any CDR file, right click, choose "open with..." but don't select any program, instead this go to "use other..." and on the following list choose CorelDRAW 2018 or the version you want to use as default (remember that it's a trial)
That happens if you install any trial every version for the past several years. I've been burnt in the past and after trying everything I could think of or read on the net, I sucked it up and reformatted my whole system. I'm in the same boat now with 2017 and still have no thumbs because I haven't had time.
I had to fix this too and this method worked for me: Right-click on any CDR file and choose Properties from the Context menu. In the Properties dialog, to the right of where it says Opens with... click Change. Choose CorDRAW 2018 from the list of programs and then click OK. You will probably need to do this for Photo-Paint (CPT) files as well, choosing Photo-Paint 2018 as the default.
Tried that. That's what I meant when I said "I tried setting default application back to 2017."
since this problem was discussed several times before, most of the times thsi solution worked.
