I was SO exited when CorelDraw 2019 for Mac was Released. I was finally going to get rid of that Windows OS that I only use for Corel. And I was finally going to get rid of Parallels too since I did not need windows anymore. So I immediately downloaded the software and then the issues and dissatisfactions came.... 1) No upgrade option. NO, there is no upgrade option if you already own Corel draw for windows. So now you have to pay the full amount for this software. COREL, COME ON GUYS!!!!!!!!! 2) After trying the software I found the first MAJOR issue (at least to me) and CorelDRAW tech support CAN'T figure it out. How to import a WORKSPACE. I ask tech support and the way they say to do it does not work. I've tried it multiple ways and nothing. Ok, maybe that's not a huge problem, I can redo my workspace and setup the options to work the way I want them to. No biggie right? WRONG!!! that leads to #3 3) Now I could be wrong, I really can but I've looked and looked and gone into different options within CorelDRAW preference AND I still CAN'T find the CUSTOMIZATION section of CorelDRAW for Mac. On the windows side I can make my own shortcuts, settings of what keyboard keys to use to do what.... you know, setting up the tools so that one can work smoothly and quicker. Yeah, that doesn't exist in Corel for Mac...Again I could be wrong..... I am HOPING someone can prove me wrong. 4) This CorelDRAW version is slower (at least to me) than the windows version. I run windows 10 in parallel with everything split down the middle in reference to CPU and Memory. If you use parallels you understand what I am referring to. CorelDRAW in virtual windows runs faster. SO I said, well maybe its because I am running windows and windows may be taking away from the CPU and Memory of the Mac. So I completely close parallels and still CorelDRAW doesn't operate as fast as the windows side. Again this may just be me. 5) Where is the menu bar with the quick open, import, export, etc????? I understand that windows is a different platform completely from Mac but heck I would think they can add this feature since they added other shortcuts on the top menu. At the end of it all for the price CorelDRAW sells this it should be 100% match to the windows side. As of now it's like 75% match. This new version of Corel draw is missing several things and feels washed down. It feels that it was made just to attract Mac users to buy your product. There are so many things wrong with this system yet CorelDRAW is selling it. It’s like selling a new car with missing parts just because the manufacturer wants to show off a new car. It’s pathetic!!! Can anyone else chime in? Maybe I am incorrect on the above?
Except from Performance you are mentioned Workspace issues. There are many of differences about CorelDRAW workspace macOS and Windows version. You can check the Dockers (Inspectros on macOS ver.) can not able to move another section of workspace.
These limitation comes from OS integraiton and this is the first version of CorelDRAW for macOS. I hope they will birng full customization of workspace and more in next version of CorelDRAW.
I understand that customization is important for many users, not for all but those who are already old Windows users will surely want everything to be the same on Mac. I do not use Mac so I can not compare the performance, but what I've heard from other users who have tried it is that the performance is similar or even better than in Windows.
I can not imagine how you could import a workspace from an earlier version, that you do not have the same options or even have things in the same place. Maybe just the keyboard commands.
lets forget the workspace. that's was figured out. but the performance is poor. not sure what the other users are using but I have used this on one of the latest Mac Pro with all the bells and whistles and a good amount of ram, 32gb, and I have used it on a 2017 Mac book pro 17 with all the bells and whistles and it runs slow. I run parallels and CorelDRAW for windows and it runs way faster and my computer barely turns the fan on but if use Corel for Mac it makes my cpus get up to max cpu usage and the fans start turning really fast just to cool down the cpu. and all I did was write something. that to me is a CorelDRAW problem. heck if I start drawing like I normally do on the windows side my Mac will explode form the cpu usage.
I'm interested in the MAC configurations that are suffering slow down. Are any of these devices using AND processors or AMD graphics cards?
I was using CorelDraw 2018 on my PC which started having problems. Wanted a Mac originally but needed CorelDraw so i purchased the PC. Was excited about the new Mac version of CorelDraw 2019, so I purchased the top of the line iMac and Corel Draw for the Mac. That didn't work for me because of non Mac or CorelDraw reasons, so I installed Windows 10 via Parallels and installed the CorelDraw 2019 for windows and its been one issue after another. Two issues immediatly encountered. Attempting to zoom and pan in Corel Draw is extremely cumbersome at best and often times with no hand on the mouse, the screen will zoom in or out or pan somewhere extremely far away from whatever I am working on. The other issue I am encountering is attempting to double click on a photo in CorelDraw with the intention of opening and editing the photo in Photo Paint. I have the box checked that is supposed to enable this functionality, but it does not work forcing me to copy and paste the photo into PhotoPaint, edit it, save it and then reopen the photo in CorelDraw.
Has anyone reloaded CorelDraw 2018 onto their VM on their Mac and is CD18 working in a stable, reliable and predicatable manner?
