Are there any "corel" plans to release a "professional page layout" program, something like Adobe INDD?
That is something we have discussed several times in this forum, but I cannot give information about what is spoken in Corel.In my personal opinion (and I repeat, it is only my opinion) the simplest thing would be to acquire QurkXpress, a consolidated program on Mac and Windows, with extensive experience, and with many users. In addition, many commands are similar in both.
Corel would ruin the desktop division of Quark (i.e. QuarkXPress).
If VP was rewritten for the modern age, with its then current capabilities and add more (like OT Features), that would likely be less expensive than purchasing QXP itself, much less the other lines Quark owns.
While I use QXP & ID every day, I would more than welcome a modern VP--which I still run a few yimes a week for moving old VP pubs to one or the mentioned applications (as well as Viva Designer).

Why would something like this happen? The mistake would be to try to merge CorelDRAW + Quark into a kind of CorelXPress or QuarkDRAW to make a mega-program that does it all. That would be terrible. But offering both programs together, but maintaining their independence, would not be a bad idea.
Over the years, Corel has bought many programs and successfully incorporated them. PhotoPaint was acquired from ZSoft, Painter from Metacreations, Videostudio from ULead, PaintShopPro from Jasc, etc. I don't understand why it would be different if they bought Quark or another. In addition to being pessimistic, that prediction is unfounded. When Ventura joined the CorelDRAW suite (in version 5.0), they did not ruin Ventura, on the contrary, they added the Corel interface and improved it. So good it turned out, that even today you can use CorelVentura if you want, despite the different versions of Windows
The same could be said of MicrografxDesigner, a very similar competitor, that many people thought Corel intended to eliminate. Quite the contrary, it incorporated and improved, it is still an independent program. Therefore, I see no reason to think that Corel did something different with Quark or with another program.
Er, there were a few things Corel messed up over time when they acquired VP. And while I can run VP on a modern OS, it really doesn't like going paste XP Pro and it can be a mistake using OTF or TT fonts with Type 1 outlines. On Win 10, I can just about crash it at will. But it is still usable for what I need.
I don't think I am being pessimistic. Here's what I believe would happen. There would be another shake up with the current management and engineers--something that just occurred a couple months ago due to the reorganizing from the investors whom just purchased Quark last year. Corel would need to increase the price again (which also just happened). It would go to subscription and Quark would lose yet more customers. They would lose more of their customer base due to disruption. Etc.
That said, I do know a number of individuals and some companies that would welcome direct CD and PP import, myself included. Whether that requires Corel to purchase Quark or not is another issue. If Quark & Corel would work together especially that CD for the Mac is now a thing again, both companies would benefit by an agreement. Corel & Quark might get more sales and that would lessen the pressure over time for people using CC as an all in one solution. They both could be sales outlet in they way of bundling each others products.
