In previous editions of Corel Draw I was able to set up a multipage document and have objects that were placed outside of the page area (i.e. on the 'Desktop') stay on successive pages. This useful feature (to me) seems to have disappeared from Corel Draw 2019. Was this a documented change that I have missed somewhere?
Note Eskimo's reply below, which is correct. However, it's apparently not something you can change globally - you need to change it for each document. I won't comment on the lunacy of that decision...

If I understand correctly, "Keep Desktop Objects on Layer" and "Select Object to Activate Layer" are not global settings, and are not document settings. Instead, they are workspace-based settings.
I sit corrected - just tried again, and I must have saved (or re-saved) my workspace, because now it's defaulting to the correct action - off.
I think it's convenient that those settings can be changed from the Objects docker, but I think it would be a good idea for those to also be present as checkboxes in the "CorelDRAW Options" or "Tool Options".
That would help to show that those are workspace-based settings.
Here's some information about it that might be good to know:First of all, the "Keep Desktop Objects on Layer" option is a User setting (Workspace) not a Document setting, just as Eskimo pointed out, so no matter how the file is saved, it is your preferences when opening the file that determines how it will behave.Let's say we have a multi page document with an object outside the drawing area on page 3.If the creator didn't want this object on the Desktop layer and had chosen to work with "Keep Desktop Objects on Layer" on, it doesn't make any difference if it is saved and later reopened with this setting off, the object will still be on its layer on page 3.When you start browsing through the pages though, and reach page 3, the object will then suddenly jump to the Desktop layer and will be visible on all pages. This happens because you have chosen to work with "Keep Desktop Object on Layer" disabled, and this is something you must be aware of.If the pages are of different size, browsing through pages with objects outside the drawing area and on the Desktop layer could make these objects move, because they can be pushed aside by a drawing area that collides with its position.Objects jumping between layers and being unintentionally moved are the main reasons Corel decided tho change the layer behavior.I know some users like to keep objects outside the drawing area, having them available on all pages, but it is not a totally foolproof behavior and I support the new mode where objects stay on their layers until moved manually.
