What on earth is this all about? Because 2019m is so buggy, I'm largely still working with previous versions. When I opened X6 I was greeted with the following message informing I had an
illegal copy. I have no such thing, having upgraded entirely legitimately since starting with version 9.
Thanks, Colin
It's amazing how often see posts like this. Makes you wonder what's up.
Hi David
Is it a scam or a cynical marketing ploy? I know corel are stopping upgrades - which is pretty cynical in itself - but surely they wouldn't sink to threatening long time users who have only ever upgraded from the official website. Interestingly the 'warning' hasn't popped up with 2018 or 2019 (I bypassed X7) even though they share the exact same upgrade history.
Colin
PS Hope your knee op went well
I have no idea what it is. For the last several years I have bought all my versions of all Corel software directly from Corel and I have had no issues with licenses. I used to buy from CDW or Newegg but the deals were no better.
Following your post I went anc checekd my installations of X5 and X7 and didn't get that warning for either.
Have you logged into your account at Corel.com and checked your registered serial numbers?
I've phoned the Corel support team who confirmed that my serial number was completely legit (as was the X5 number from which it was upgraded).. They're supposed to be getting back but I haven't heard anything yet. In the meanwhile another pop up has appeared on opening X6
On testing, save and export worked normally. The same message has also appeared on X6 on my laptop. Whatever is going on it seems related to the X6 installation rather than the machine but why is it happening 3 or 4 years after installation?
I have only ever bought directly from Corel - from my initial purchase of version 9.
