I am trying to import high resolution images for a large scale project. Every time I import the images, Corel downsamples them to 300px. How do I work around this?
The import tool for import for high resolution output is greyed out. I don't remember this being a problem in the past (I've been using Corel since 1990).
I can't find any help on Google and am not sure what changed. It's been a while since I've needed large scale images. What changed?
Could you provide a link to a representative image that behaves this way for you when importing to CorelDRAW?
This image is representative of the file size. I've downloaded a number of high resolution images. Every time I import them into Corel, the resolution is downsampled to 300dpi. I need the full resolution for a large scale project.
How are you determining, in CorelDRAW, that the image is being "downsampled"?
When image is selected the reading is 300x300 on the lower left portion of the screen lists image info. If I resize larger, the resolution is too low for the large format job.
When you see "300 x 300 dpi" in the status bar, what are the dimensions - in inches - of that image in CorelDRAW?
It doesn't list them in the status bar. Just the dpi.

There are ways to see what the dimensions of an object are in CorelDRAW.
The Width and Height boxes on the Property Bar are one way to see this.
Another way is the "Object Details" status item on the Status Bar. If you are running Default workspace, there is a "flyout" on the Status Bar that has "Object Details" available.
If you have a bitmap selected, you can also look at the "Bitmap" tab of the Properties docker, where it will show the size, color mode, and resolution of the bitmap.

Adobe Stock claims that the image is 7360 x 4912 pixels.
At 300 dpi, that would be 24.533" x 16.373".
At 400 dpi, that would be 18.4" x 12.28".
At 600 dpi, that would be 12.267" x 8.187".
...and so on.
Do you still think that CorelDRAW is "downsampling" the image?
I need to retain a minimum of 150 dpi for an 8' wide format design. I used to do a lot of wide format jobs, but it's been a couple of Corel versions ago since I did. I don't know how I can get a stock image for the background that will meet the criteria. I never had a problem before. Any suggestions if Corel isn't downsampling quality?
If you need an image to have a particular dpi at a given size, then you need to get an image that meets your criteria.
Another option is to use software that is designed to "upsample" the image to get higher resolution. I have essentially no experience doing that, so I can't make any specific software recommendations.
CorelDRAW 2018 and 2019 include a BenVista PhotoZoom Pro plug-in that can be used in Photo-Paint to do that sort of job.
