It's probably too early to tell but I was wondering what other people's experience is with 2020 performance so far. Is it Cdr 2019 that actually works. There's a number of features in 2019 that are really useful for my workflow - or would be if the program was reliable. I've largely been working in 2018 all year, its successor being so erratic.
I've been with Coreldraw long enough not to expect it to be 100% stable. I've experienced one crash but that was possibly asking too much of the photorealistic function in Trace. Strictly speaking I'm not much bothered about the new 2020 features (or overly impressed). I'm reluctant to pay out for something that should have been fixed in the previous version but my trial runs out in a few days and I'm not committing any more cash untill I'm sure this version works.

2020 is a half assed service pack 4 with a few added features that are ok at best, there are still very many broken features, way too many to list
The inner shadow is nice, variable fonts, while they maybe needed done are like a high maintenance woman. The AI effects are for me even less attractive. The smart mask in Photo-PAINT is nice. PDF improvements for export are good.
It runs smoother on my system then 2019 but it's a real power house.
Thanks David,. As I said I'm not interested in. or overly impressed by the new features. Interestingly the workplace colour problems I had with 2019 - that you were kind enough to help me with - aren't there with 2020, not with the Trial version anyhow. Mine runs out in 2 days but I think I'll keep an eye on the forum for a while yet before even thinking about buying. Sadly I no longer trust Corel after the last couple of years. They're asking a hell of a lot for what you rightly describe as " a half assed service pack 4 with a few added features that are ok at best".
There is a great deal of downward pricing pressure on software. I have no problem paying a premium for any product, (as long as it is) a premium product.
I spent 30 minutes on a conference call today, I've been contacted to find test and develop training for Adobe alternative software.
As my trial is ending I'm receiving this extortionate smash and grab invitation from Corel to lash out either £299 on a one year subscription or a staggering UK £599 (over US $700) to buy 2019's "service pack 4".

I've been with Coreldraw for many years, since version 9, dutifully upgrading to most of the new versions every 2 years, costing approx a perfectly acceptable £150 per year.- now they want 4 times as much for a single year.
The subscription option is twice as much as of old and I don't even own the program. What happens to files created in a subscribed 2020 if I chose not to update next year? Presumably the program would blink out and the files would be lost - effectively handcuffing me to Corel if I want to retrieve anything.
And if I subscribed again in two years time, would I be able to open 2020 files?
I've downloaded Illustrator and Paintshop trials to check them out as alternatives before it's too late. I know Adobe operate a similar purchasing/subsciption system but I seriously suspect Corel is fast becoming a sinking ship. I can barely believe I'm saying this - I've always loved Coreldraw; its imperfections being easily outweighed by its friendiness and intuitive ease of use.
I don't know who the cowboys are running the show now, but they're doing serious harm to a previously prescious commodity.

I am with you on this one. I have been playing with Adobe Illustrator version cs4 which is old and I am starting to really like it. lots of cool features I never bothered looking at before. Best part cs4 is in the box, I own it outright and i like that way. Clearly I can do all I have to in AI.
Some very cool text effects and when you want a pixel size for the web or an icon for a program you actually get it the size you want.
I fully understand all software has it's bugs but I think Corel lost the plot in the Draw arena. Takes a lot of something to sell stuff in such bad shape including the yearly update program or whatever it is today, might change again tomorrow.
In most cases bad news gives birth to newer and better things. Makes you wake up and step up.
Bob I don't know if this is arrogance or stupidity on the part of Corel. The 2020 release is simply the continuation of the behaviors we've seen since X6. My new contract has me replacing a $40,000 a year expenditure in software in just 1 company.
CorelDRAW is not over priced it's just not good enough interms of reliability. It doesn't help that young designers are dumb as a rotted stump but Corel needs to program for that.

Anybody help with my earlier queries;
1. What happens to files created in a subscribed 2020 if I choose not to update next year? Would the program simply blink out with files lost or rather unopenable.
and
2. If I resubscibe in, say, 2022 - missing a year - would the earlier 2020 files open in 2022?
