Help with fusing/welding curves

Hello! I'm new to CorelDRAW. I'm working on a design I need to cut with a cutting plotter and the text is cut out this strange way. Is there a way to fuse these letters into a single object so the plotter cuts them right? Hope you can help me, I'm about to collapse :(

When I welded, the shapes wouldn't weld correctly. It just left a blank space where the overlapping was. What I did was, break apart the text and then weld (each letter at a time because it still welded...

OpenType Variable fonts are a good thing, but they do have their hazards. The overlapping strokes is one problem. Not all variable fonts are made that way. Nevertheless it's important to inspect artwork...

Object menu, Shaping > Weld should do the trick.

You can also use the Shape docker.

The reason might be because they probably were COMBINED and not WELDED, there's a difference. ;-)
