No problem to hide active shape, but unhide unvisible object is problematic becouse no metod to make unvisible object activ.
I think to hide object to move active shape to unvisible layer. To unhide object he must be moved from unvisible layer to his visible layer.

One other method to hide individual object is to place white or other color not transperent rectangle or oval or freeform over the shape. So the shape below is not visible, not printable.
