  • Finn,

I really like the three you posted. I could see a whole series of "clip art"
    animals in this style. :)

Haha! Yes, I could also see that becoming a whole series of funny cute little icon style animals/avatars.Big Smile

      • Anyone remember the Furby? That's what Finn's little animals remind me of. :)

        • Big SmileBig SmileBig Smile LOL!!

Then I resume Jeff's is an evil furby.Devil Going to post mine tomorrow. Let's see what comes out...

          • Here's my take on the challenge: a domestic fight : )

Done in about three hours with X4. Usual procedure here: sketched on paper, used the scanned image to create the vectors by hand to define the main shapes. Gradient fills, transparencies and blends for the shadow on the floor. The clouds were easily assembled just superposing ellipses, welding them together, trimming the bottom part a bit with a rectangle, then faded with the Interactive Transparency tool.

It was fun to do. Nice challenge.

            • This started out as a pussycat and became a Lion..lol.

Done using basic shapes (Eclipses with radial fills) and the transparency tool.
              Had fun trying this.

              • I can realy see you get started on this challenge, realy nice creatures all of them. Big Smile

Here's one in this style. I used CorelDRAW only.

              Anyone can post a challenge.

You pushed me to recall methods/workarounds I hadn't used in a while. :-)

              • First post. New member. Was playing around w/ Corel X4's brushes and came up with this. Used the fish and the grass brushes. Cat face is a trace from picture. A little unfamiliar with how this site works/navigates. BTW, great examples.

              • Wanted to thank everyone for the comments and to say well done for all the other posts.  Also, thanks to the people who create tutorials and make online instruction available to us folks with not much formal training such as LVS Online, Jeff Harrison (especially the How To Draw w/ Corel videos), Alex Galvez (CorelDraw Tips), Foster and those who make things more clear to understand. Foster I agree with you in that it is a worthwhile investment.

Finn, here is another animal for you. Hope it's OK to post more than once to these challenges. I wanted to show I can create something on my own and not depend on Brushes and fills. Corel's Object Manager really helps in making this work. I wanted to keep this graphic in the same style as others posted. The lips were the hardest part.

                • Should have posted this with the graphic, but forgot I had done this. It's a screen capture of something I found by accident (haven't gotten around to learning Corel capture yet) and may help others. When creating the tail fin sections I selected all of them and then opened the fill tool dialog for linear fill and viola! I discovered multiple examples for the fills. I was able to drag the control squares were needed and fill the squares with the color needed and dropped white in the middle along the line. (saw this tip somewhere, maybe Foster). The control handles stayed 'Live' as seen and helped in keeping the lines the way I wanted them.   chuckray

                  • Chuck, thats great! I love this fish!
