Unrecoverable Error when attempting to import AutoCAD LT 2018 dxf into CorelDRAW 2017

I am receiving an "Unrecoverable Error" when attempting to import an AutoCAD dxf into CorelDRAW.  This is my first attempt at this action with the new CorelDRAW software.

Is there a procedure or way to correct this?

I am able to import a pdf of the same AutoCAD file but the objects do not seem to respond in CorelDRAW as I was used to with the dxf files in the past.  When I experienced this I greatly simplified the file to be imported, a simple rectangle, in an effort to make it work.

The current software is CorelDRAW 2017 and AutoCAD LT 2018 running on a Windows 10 machine, both software packages have been upgraded within the past 6 months.

I had performed the same action using previous versions of the software,  AutoCAD LT 2012 and CorelDRAW Graphic Suite12, on the same computer .

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

  • I spent some time figuring this out:

Using AutoCAD 2019 and Corel Draw X8:

    1. Build in AutoCAD using “No Template – Imperial” from start screen
    2. Draw
    3. Under the Output tab:
    • Select “Page Setup Manager”
    • Plotter Name: Microsoft Print to PDF
    • Plot Scale: 1:1 [This is in the Page Setup Override pop-up window, too (1 inch = 1 unit)]
    • Hit "OK"
    • Select "Page Setup Override"
    • PDF Preset: AutoCAD PDF
    • Page Setup Override: Select a paper size large enough to accommodate the drawing
    • Hit "OK" and then "Save"

-Then import the PDF into Corel

Now I can design in AutoCAD and print to my laser using Corel!

Also, thanks to Corel user ArtV for the suggestion about conversion programs.
