i am sure there is a simple solution:
on page one i will have 2 layers. One of the layers i will click on the eye and print icons to hide all objects on that layer.
but when i create a second page (or more) by hitting the plus sign at the bottom left of the app all objects that are in the hidden layer on page one appear on page 2
help?
-thx in advance, - handsome john
Maybe it's a Master Layer?
can you share a capture or the file for find the right answer
thank you for replying; attached is a 3 part image showing my steps.
The circle is on the "desktop" layer, then it will appears on all pages. Move inside to the right page
I knew it was something simple!-- thank you so much for your help!
It's the wonderful, intuitive, can't-optionally-be-turned-off Page/Desktop behavior of CorelDRAW. It magically kicks in when a second page is added, quietly moving any objects that lie outside the page boundary from whatever layer(s) they might be on to the Desktop layer.
Can you tell that I'm not the biggest fan of this "feature"?
On the contrary, I'm a big fan of this feature. It'a time saving option and a very useful feature. If you want to copy or move one or several objects (a lot of objects!) without use the slow copy/paste, just drag the objects outside the page, switch to another page, then drag into the right place.
It's also useful for understand the original concept of CorelDRAW: a drawing block (or just a single sheet of paper) over a desktop. Imagine that you're using a real A4 on your desktop, it's supoosed that you should draw inside the paper, not outside over the desk. All objects placed outside the paper are stored for use later but are not a part of the job.
Of course I have "a printer mind": although you can place object outside the page and it's part of the same layer until you create another page or switch to another page, iif you send to print, (or Publish as PDF), the result by default is the content of the page. Choosing "fit to page" it's the same than select all objects and reduce to fit.
Ariel,
Seriously - do you think that I do not understand the concept?
It's wonderful - for you - that you like the Page/Desktop way of working. Hooray!
It's not wonderful - for me - that I can't optionally shut that behavior off for the many situations where it does not suit my needs.
I'm not teaching you, and I'm not against you. I just show my personal point of view.
Sorry if I misunderstood.
When I read it, this certainly seemed like a lecture:
