If you are using and AMD RX series or new card (this could affect older models) there is a driver bug that causes severe Corel Draw 2017 performance issues. I was running AMD Adrenaline 17.12.2 and I tried the latest version 18.1.1 and both rendered Corel Draw 2017 useless. I uninstalled both driver versions and reverted back to the Microsoft update service driver version 17.50.15.01-180112a1-322990. Corel Draw 2017 now opens, edits converts files perfectly fine again.
My system specs:
GA-AX370-GAMING K7
Ryzen 1500X
G.SKILL 16GB DDR 2400 memory - F4-2400C16D-16GFXR
512GB Plextor M.2 M8Pe(G)
GV-RX580AORUS-8GB
Had to go back to 17.7. Driver 18.1 opening saving exporting makes computer sluggish.
System
i7 3770K, Dual R9 290X, 32GB Ram, 840 evo 512GB
17.7 WOW You can see from my post the Microsoft update service driver is 17.50.15.01-180112a1-322990.
It does work. I did a clean of windows updating all drivers thinking it was something else. Why would the graphics driver affect saving and opening?
It’s the driver causing the rendering of the OS on the screen. Whatever the bug in in Windows 10 Fall Creators update it has affected lots of software. Nitro PDF Pro had the same issues with their program they just issued a patch for the application to fix it. If you have an old Nvidia graphics card laying around I suggest popping it in and seeing for yourself. I swapped out my brand new RX 580 series to see what would happen if I went back to my 660TI. Corel Craw 17 worked flawlessly under an Nvidia based card. I put my RX580 back in and same issues, severe lag. That was when I dug into the driver issue because obviously Nvidia and AMD require different drivers. Once I completely uninstalled the AMD driver and leftover registry files and rebooted Windows did the rest and went out to the update service and installed the Microsoft provided AMD WHQL driver. I’d recommend CCCleaner to cleanup the registry. Manually run CCleaner and select the files you want DO NOT AUTO run it. I am not responsible for anything CCleaner might remove on it’s own. I have been using the software for years and know how it works, use it at your own risk.
Just tried 18.2.2 same problem. I game also. Need two machines I guess
I'd buy an NVidia chip based card and sell your AMD card on Ebay or Craiglist the crypto miners will gobble your card up and pay a nice penny for it. Here is the email I received from the other company about my PDF software.
Last quarter, Microsoft released its latest Windows 10 Fall Creators Update to users. Unfortunately, this update created slowness and performance issues with many applications, including N_ _ _ _ Pro 11
Today, we are pleased to announce we've released an update to version 11 that will fix the performance issues and get the application working as expected with Windows 10.
Whether or not you installed the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, we strongly recommend that you update your Nitro Pro software to the latest version to avoid any of these issues in the future.
This is a COREL ISSUE and they need to address it.
I think you're exactly right and wish they would do something about it.
My problem is I cannot fix the issue by going back to a previous driver as I have a Radeon Pro WX 5100 and the older drivers do not work with this newer card. The only option to bring back the speed is to disable the video card in Device Manager. This option blows since I use three screens and when I do that, only one screen is available. Also, I'm sure that one guy will chime in about using a nVidia card, but who wants to purchase a new video card right now with the crypto hoggers boosting prices to insane levels?
I sent a support ticket to Corel a while back and this is where it got me...
"Hello Jeff,
I felt sad that I wasn't able to help you with regards to the issue you encountered on our program. For this reason, I will now be closing this technical support ticket. If you have other concerns or questions about any Corel product in the future, please do not hesitate to create a new case or submit a new inquiry and we'll be glad to assist you.
Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions. Regards, Jeff Corel Technical Support Services"
What a joke! Sad and closing the unresolved ticket, awesome.
Corel's customer service has got to be the worst in the industry. Their responses are almost always unhelpful and often come across as cynical, such as this example... really?? this guy was "sad" so he closed the ticket??? It does not surprise me and I can practically hear their laughter as they snicker at their struggling customers. I told them after our last run-in that this decades-long customer will be cross-shopping other products next time around. So sad what they have allowed to happen to a once-great product.
totally agree with autosofinterest,
I have Macbook Pro 15 inch mid 2017. Kaby Lake 4.1ghz cpu, 16gb ram, 512gb ssd, Radeon 560 Pro running 17.12.2 driver. Have Aorus Game Box Nvidia 1080 as well, win 10 64bit. Coreldraw x8 runs like a donkey against Pharlap. What a garbage piece of software. DO NOT BUY IT.
Coreldraw fix you Graphic acceleration problem, as you own it.
