I have a time restraint and needed to create a bar code. If I try to insert barcode under edit - it will initalize and then give me the error: "Corel BAR CODE Wizard has stopped working... A Problem caused the program to stop working correctly, Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." It has not notified me of anything and I have tried to get this to work countless times today. Is this a BIG bug in Draw X4?
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium
Indeed frustrating... the wizard worked first time with no hitch on an ISBN (except it didn't generate a barcode, just the numeric portion) I'd say that's most unuseful! Tried repeating on same page that's when it locks up momentarily and then generates the MS window to close and another to generate the trouble to an error log (if you have that set in your preferences).
So I tried closing the Corel page and opened a new. This time I did get an error as before, but after closing the message the wizard unghosted and was operational. I tried to generate a UPC and once again it left me with just a numeric no barcode. I also noticed in the left side panel of the wizard where it shows you a representation of your selection, that the first time it had a rotated illustration toward the top of a barcode, but the next time it opened it had an image of a curled page effect like you would create with a bitmap effect, and it moved the barcode down further.
I'm using Vista Home Premium 64
Same issue here, had no trouble until I tried it in X3, now it does not work anymore in either one of the apps.
Hi Jenerate,
You've found a bug we hadn't noticed . For the time being I here's a workaround for the bug:
Open up barcode.ini found in "c:\Documents and settings\<your user name>\Application Data\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Config" and set
Main Input=
(note, there's nothing behind the equal sign). After doing so, save the file, then make it read only, this will prevent the crash from occuring again, but will also make it not remember your last setting. The directory may be hidden on some computers, so you may have to show hidden directories in your "folder options" of explorer.
