I recently upgraded from CD 9 to X4.
If I select existing text and then choose the Text tool or Menu - Edit Text, the text disappears. It is still there but I can't see it. Also, if I open the font drop down list, the list is long but I can't see any of the font names.
Any suggestions?
Thanks
George
Hi.
Congrats. That's a helluvan upgrade. Many new features and possibilites are now open for you!
Did you install the service pack if needed. Your version should end with a .701
Also what version of windows are you using it on?
You may also try checking this option. It disables live text for font switching only
.
Hope this helps.

Hi John.
I did download SP2 and ran it. It notified me that it couldn't find any Corel software to upgrade. I also downloaded something called Hot Fix 2. It did find the Corel software and did something. The CD version is 14.0.0.701. I assume that is the most up to date version.
I am running this on XP SP 3
The font options are exactly as you have shown.
Thanks for your help.
Correction, it is now working!
I changed the Font Matching in the font options from "Do Not Use Font Navigator Catalog" to "Use Font Navigator Catalog".
Thanks John.
Glad you found it. This might be a bug.
Well I'm quite frustrated with this. I thought the problem was gone but it's still here. I think I know a bit more about it but don't know how to solve it.
I've tried repairing the original installation of X4, resetting the application (F8), removing all extra fonts installed. and changing many of the customization settings.
If I start a session with an existing file originally created in version 9 but subsequently saved as an X4 file, then select text and use the text tool, the text disappears, but it is still there. The drop down list of available fonts is large but does not show the names of any fonts. All other CD functions seem to work properly.
If I start the session with a new file and enter text, everything works as it should. If I then open another existing file created in version 9, the text tool works properly.
Is there a way to "repair" older files to make them compatible with X4?
