Need help creating outline/cut line...

I need to take a picture w/ text and create an outline around around all outside lines only. That means that if an arm and hand are sticking outside of the rest of the image, it will outline the arm and hand as well. I have Corel X4 and 11 to work with.

Any help you can give would be great.

thanks!

  • Could you please clarify what kind of imge are you refering to.  Is it picture with or without a background? (ie: with background - imported photo, without background - CPT phot object, etc.)

This would be an example file. I am trying to outline all outside edges. Including the shadow on the bottom of the car, the numbers in 2009 and the letters that float outside of the image. Basically, only the outside edges. Not the inside of the 0's and 9's.

      i hope this helps clarify.

      • You mean like this? I inserted the outlined picture + the outline only. It was done in hurry so do not pay attention to details. This is just to clarify a initial idea.

        • If all objects are vectors, then Create Boundary (Effects menu in X4) should do the job.
The Smart Fill Tool can also be helpful (X4 only).

          • Hey! X3 has smart fill tool too. Cool

But maybe there I change that I don't know yet between X3 and X4?

True, and X3 has also got the Create Boundary command. The original poster however, stated that he has X4 and 11, that's why I gave this correct but incomplete answer.CoolCool

As far as I know, no changes between X3 and X4 regarding these two.
