How to speed up copy/paste operations?

I just tested it and copy and paste is instantaneous. Maybe you have too many levels of undo. Or is the file a big one or does this happen on any file. Soemthing's up that's for sure because it shouldn't take 3-5 secs!

I generally use Ctrl+D for duplicate items on the same page, much faster. No use if youre copying between pages though. Simple objects/groups will be fast, ones with powerclips, bitmap effects or complex shapes with many nodes will be much slower.

Just as a comparison, a simple unfilled 20mm x 20mm square cut and paste almost instantly, certainly far less than a second for each cut/past operation.  how does that compare with your cut and paste speed?

If you create a copy with one of those methods, drag the object outside the page, go to other page and drag the object inside the page, it's faster than copy/paste
