Is ther a better way to highlight a cartoon without modifying the highlight using the node tool? It seems when I wish to highlight a piece of art I must first create a copy of the area I am going to highlight, then I move it a bit to allow for me to use the paint fill tool to color the area to create the highlight. Then I delete the copy and keep the painted area. I copy the outline and change the fill to the highlight color. When I remove the outline it then becomes complicated since I now must use the node tool to correct any overlaps of the highlight and the art. The transparency tool will allow you to make just line transparent but it too needs some modifaction. In the art here I just use the nodes and moved them around to somewhat my desired locations.

Amazing stuff!
I tried to look at the code to do this highlighting... but all symbols and all.
How those guys do that to make it follow the shapes of the letters and all automatically...
and you can run the macro again to produce a different highlight right next to the first one created.
It's absolute "magic" to me.
I LOVE MACROS!!!

Thanks Jeff, I have downloaded it and in the morning I'll give it a try on some of my cartoons.
I tried out the highlight program and was a bit disappointed. Why? The program has some great features, no question, but I had to still adjust some of the highlights using nodes. The biggest concern is after I have modified the highlight in the highlight option box and click apply, my original art section deletes and leaves the highlight only. I solved the problem by pressing the undo key four times.
Here is the finished art.
Let me know what you think between the two posted pics please.
They both look fine to me. However, I like the somewhat random nature of the highlighting in the original.
Having said that... it's a free macro that gets you part of the way there. So with that a few adjustments to some of them in a one off situation doesn't seem too onerous to me.Depends of course, how many of this same image needs to be done.I don't know of one that'll just generate random looking highlights complete with gradients and all.
About the disappearing artwork problem - stick around and someone may have the solution for you.

maybe not perfect.... but a freebie. :-)

hmmm... this shouldn't happen. Tips:
I'd like to see highlights preserved in predictable stacking order, and also a preset capability for offset, and X:Y location.
John also has a highlight macro that I'll talk to him about privately... It has some nice things about it that IMO work better.
Thx Jeff
macro is great! I installed it and it work perfectly!
Thx again!
Hi Jeff,
don't know if this should be of concern to you, but when I follow the link to macromonster I get a threat alert from my AV software. Something to do with a URL called "polubomucom.com". Any idea what that might be?
Best,
Paul
Yes Jeff.
Seems something may be wrong. I'm getting a redirect.

Yup. Fixed... Was someone trying to hijack visitors to your site?
They wanted to latch onto the global popularity of my site for their own gain. Easy to fix, no harm done.
