I'm converting a BMP to High Quality Trace/Contour. It worked fine until a week ago, then started to degrade. First it only crashed once I adjusted the sliders to what I wanted, never completing. Now the runtime error pop-up show up and freezes the program the moment the PowerTrace GUI shows up or starts to process the default trace setting and just sits at about 10%.I've checked my Win7 Events logs and while the runtime error detail can vary a bit, they are more or less the same ones over and over.I've updated my Visual Studio 2005 and 2008 (the ones native to X5), no go. So I uninstalled and re-installed the entire Studio Suite. Still no-go.If I can't fix this, I may need to re-install my older Graphics Suite 12 but having rarely used Draw then, I don't know if the PowerTrace is available or as tweakable as in X5.This is a bit frustrating for my project is 99% completed and needs this last conversion.
What could be interfering/causing this?Thank you.~ Philip
Thanks for the quick reply harry.
I have windows 7 so I installed .net 4.5.2 successfully and rebooted. The problem is still occurring.
In my instance I select trace bmp - outline trace - line art ... i am presented with a choice to "reduce bitmap" or "cancel".
If I cancel corel crashes and if I select reduce bitmap then it proceeds to corel autotrace window and performs an initial trace with a default setting.
I then increase detail to near max and it retraces. If it completes this retrace without crashing then i select ok to return to drawx5. It then crashes.
Upto yesterday I was able to complete a trace and save..but only one trace.. it would always crash on a second trace. I would then have to re-launch corelx5 .
But from yesterday it ALWAYS crashes at one of the above stages of the tracing process.
thanks in advance
Hello bishopflynn; Did you clean out the Temp files? What else is running besides Corel? How much ram do you have, and how much are you using for the video? It depends on the picture you are tracing to how much computer resources the computers Wants to use. If you don't let it reduce the bitmap it may need more than you have. And it's better to start a new post rather than adding to a old one, some people that may be able to help you won't look at a post it they think a person is being helped.

Have you installed the X5 updates at http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index.jsp?pgid=800161&ppid=1000083&popular ?
But because it is becoming worse, I think that you may need to empty the windows %temp% folder. You can do this manually (preferably immediately after a reboot) or with a program like cCleaner from www.piriform.com.
