Hey everyone,
I was just curious of the difference between these three paint programs. Painter looks awesome but I already have photopaint. Is it really that much different?
Thanks!
Hello RageBear; I don't have any of the programs you listed, except PhotoPaint, But I think that you need to look at what you are going to do with the programs, ( What's it going to be used for.) Some people like Fords, some like a Chevy. Why not down load a free trial of each and see what works best for you. I use CorelDRAW & PhotoPaint because that's what I know how to use the best, and it was a lot cheaper than the others when I started out. ( And still is.) I have made a living for a long time with Corel, and they Have Never let me down.
My Thoughts George
Thanks, George! I completely gapped that there might be trial versions available for download; I'll do that. I'm mostly going to be using them for inking /coloring/shading pencil drawn sketches. I do like photopaint but so far I feel like it's limited in regards to what I'd like. Perhaps a better question would be can any of those programs do more than the other? Painter looks fancy but when I already own photopaint I'm curious if it's worth the money to switch.
Hello Again RageBear; You do know that Corel has a lot of other raster programs also. I think the learning curve for most programs can take quite a while to get to where you will want to be. I have not owned a Adobe program since they were done for DOS.
Good Luck, And Have Fun.
George
The difference is not only between "Chevy's fans" vs "fans of Ford". Each program is completely different to the other. Corel Painter is for digital painting, for artists. Of course you can do a digital painting on any image software, but painter is superior o tools and flexibility. Corel PhotoPaint is part of CorelDRAW, the biggest advantadge is to share components with CorelDRAW and edit bitmap inside corelDRAW. It's a program for professionals. Corel PaintShopPro is a separate sofware, useful for both professional and non-professional users, easy to use and with a lot of options and filters. Corel PhotoImpact is other great and powerful software, oriented to web and special effects, not easy to learn but with indredible results.
Very informative, thank you, too.
