Exporting

I am having problems exporting to anything.  

The file name pops up and puts an extension .ai on the end, (why??)  and there's ZERO file extensions listed in "Save As Type".  I have Corel Draw 11.  Help!  I can't export to anything!  I have a Book Cover with photos & text, and have tried other files too, same thing.   I need the Book Cover to be turned into a jpg at 300 dpi for the online publisher.  Thank you for your help!

    Hello jazzy; Ver. 11 was a good ver. of Corel back in the 90's. But the newer Corel Does so much more........ The files the printers want to day are PDF files...... How big is the file you have? Once opened you can save the file in CDR format. If the file is in English you can send me the file and I will convert it to PDF for you. I Can take the Ai file and send it back in a CDR file ver. 11 should open. If that will help you.
