This is very troubling. I work with Autocad files, currently Acad 2010 is being used in the office.
I'm trying to import a siteplan for coloring, and I can't get the darn thing into X5. I import as a .pdf (created from Autocad) and I get a "file is corrupt" error. I'm used to that in X3, with Adobe upgrading the .pdf standard, but X5 should be able to read these files, right? This is the solution I'd prefer as it would be a one-step process, all lineweights and text spacing, etc. shouldn't change from the original file. At least one would think so.
If I import as a .dwg or .dxf, I get the expected dialogs, but after the font-matching dialog, CorelDraw shuts down with no explanation! Poof! I've gone back 15 years saved the .dxf as release 14 and still, poof!
I'm going to have to use X3 until this gets resolved...
Hey Phil!
Can you send me the .DXF and .PDF files for testing?
T.
Tony, I'd love to. I tried to send you an email but there was no "attatch" button. Does this forum do Direct Messaging

Thanks for the tip. In the meantime I've reloaded an earlier version of AutoCad to provide sort of a bloatware-based workaround.
Just noting that I haven't found a solution yet for this problem.
Autocad (the 2010 edition that is) can both export to .pdf, and plot to pdf using a plotter configuration file. In lieu of reinstalling autocad 2009, which has been problematic from a licensing standpoint, I decided to lift the 2009 plot configuration file from the 2009 disc and insert it into my current Autocad. A simple solution that does not work. Even plotting with the 2009 ends in a .pdf that X5 reads as corrupt.
In addition to all that I have been looking for a converter that works with no success. Is it AutoCad2010 that's the problem, or CorelDraw?
I'm at a loss. All I want to do is save a couple hours of changing lineweights and colors.
Well. I found a working solution in CutePDF writer. Thanks for all your help everyone. Ye are Men.
But importing an Acad2010-created .pdf it still needs to be looked at IMO
