When you export a file to PDF for prepress the CYMK values do not stay correct. Try a spot color and check values in Corel, export to PDF prepress. Open in Photoshop or Paint and check values. They are no longer correct!! This works fine in X4 and makes X5 pretty useless for commercial printing.
I tried lots of stuff and gave up. Upgrade is cheap and X4 now old news anyway. All worked fine again with 5, 6 and 7.
When looking at the available options to upgrade, i find offers for X6 that in parentheses state it is the "old version" without any other explaination why that was mentioned. Could someone explain if this is a big deal or a mute point ?
X6 still works, but does not have the newest features. It will still do most things your want.
But make sure it is X6 (a couple of years old) and not 6 (which is from 1995). Also make sure it is not Home and Student, which has limitations.

X5 or newer will do what you need, X6 is mentioned as old because X7 is the current version, there is no difference between X6 and X7 color management.
Wanted to thank everyone for their contributions. I purchased X6 last week and was amazed without having to select or deselect anything, the color in the pdf file that was created was richer using X6 than the same image with my X4 that I thought was awesome when I got it four years ago.
Been struggling with colors the entire four years and I was thinking it was me or something I selected wrong.

Dude that's why I pushed so hard for the changes that took place in X5. Glad it worked.
