No preview of CDR files in Windows 7.

I have 64 bit windows 7 home premium sp1, CorelDRAW graphics suite x5. I bought coreldraw graphics suite x7 and it was so buggy I uninstalled it and went back to x5. I uninstalled the x7 shell and reinstalled the x5 shell. I also did a repair and after downloading and installing the two updates for x5 I now have thumbnails! But no previews!!! Is it possible a windows update killed the previews? Please help. If you have the same problem please write. It is extremely difficult to use coreldraw without previews...

on Windows Explorer, select a CDR file and choose "open with" using the secondary mouse button, but doesn't select any program, choose "other" instead. Then, you will see a list of programs, select CorelDRAW X5 and choose "use this program as default"

just curiour, what kind of problem did you find with X7? since X7 solved hundreds of bugs of X5 it was strange that you return to the old version (except thtat you don't need the new program, of course)

Thank you for your reply. I clicked on open with, CorelDRAW(R) was selected. When I click other, nothing happened, when I click the down arrow by other I get a list of programs where CorelDRAW is not listed. When I click browse I am given a explorer window pointed to c:/Program Files, and no idea on how to find the CorelDRAW x5 exe.

My problems with x7 were mainly with Photo Paint.
The files are now in full size boxes. Before they were able to be sized as you click the zoom tool.
When cropping multiple jpg images, in x7 you select the crop tool, drag a small box, click 1024x768 and it does the work. On the next crop you drag your small box and click 1024x768, nothing happens, the box is the same size as drawn. You then select another size say 800x600 then it changes the size, then you have to select 1024x768 to finally get what you wanted. So three clicks instead of 1 and it's every time.

In DRAW I used to click Arrange and group combine and align were all there. In x7 it's broken up in an odd way. I would have to open it on my other laptop to refresh my memory on the specifics of the issue. I wrote about these issues here on the forum but got zero replies.
