I would like to remove the blue color from this image without breaking the lighting effects and shadows that are present on the blue color. The area where blue was should be transparent. How can I do this?
PS:I just started working with Photo Paint X6, so I am unaware of any semi-advanced techniques.

Should be easy if I understand you correctly. Select your object(s) or draw a mask around the blue bits of your image and from "Adjust" menu select > Hue, Saturation..." Turn the Saturation to "0". This should remove all blue color leaving only a gray scales, but should retain the shading. Should work in CorelDraw and PhotoPaint. In case not all the blue has been selected hold the Shift key and select the parts that should be added.

I took your pic into Photopaint. Since everything other than blue is gray then simply use the "magic wand" mask - click on the white picture background. This will select the entire out line. of the object. then select the Mask menu and choose "invert". Then select the "Adjust" menu > Hue, Saturation, lightness > Select master channel > move the saturation slider all the way left so saturation=0. and that is it.

I can change the color by adjusting the Hue, Saturation and Lightness, which is good to know.
But I wanted to select the whole blue area, remove it (so that it becomes transparent) while keeping the shading.
I want to make a color picker for the stamp - I need a transparent area (a PNG image) so that I can change it by applying different page backgrounds by javascript and css. But removing everything including shading and lighting would end up making the images seem unreal.
Do you know how I could delete the color ?
The better the resolution of the image, the better off you will be.
Select and delete the blue in your favorite bitmap editor. Save as a PNG.
Then you can color the DIV or whatever the container is and overlay the PNG.
This is what I need, but the resulting colors look unnatural - as there are no shadows present on the resulting stamps.
Is there a way to make only the blue color transparent while preserving the shadows?
The right-hand one has a gradient. But not all browsers support it.
Really, I would simply...and quickly...just alter the colors using the hue slider (ctrl+shift+u). Make the colored versions and simply swap them out using javascript or whatnot. I am assuming this will be due to a user choosing a radio button or some such method of choose a color.
You're right - I actually have the other colored version.
The problem is that I want to add a 360 view on my eshop and loading 5 x 36 images with only the colors being different will extremely break load time and UX.
I want to make a single set of 36 images with the colored area transparent and change the color by switching the background color of the div that will contain the 360 preview.
This is why I want to preserve the lighting and shadows.
Static images are not a problem for me, I'm searching for a solution that will allow me to save bandwidth while improving the page load time of my store page.
