Need a little help here. I've made numerous brushes in Photo Paint using Photo Shop brushes converted to PNG's with ABR Viewer. For some reason I am missing something today as I try to make some from downloaded site. They are Explosions brushes that I downloaded from brusheezy.com. When imported into Photo Paint and try to make, I get the whole black square instead of the actual brush...like the image needs to be inverted to get just the brush and not the background. I've looked at danrichard.com and have used his instructions before but they are not updated for x6 but should be close. What am I doing wrong?
It's difficult to pinpoint a problem without seeing you work through the steps. When I open (not import) my abr-exported brush PNGs in Photo-Paint they come in as one object with a transparent background.
My steps in brief, compare and see if this is the same as yours:
1. Open Photoshop brush set in abrviewer. Export thumbnails (they will be saved as PNGs)
2. In Photo-Paint, open one of the saved brush PNGs (mine opens black object w/ a transparent background)
3. Use CTRL+M to create mask from object. (You may need to first select its layer on the Objects docker)
4. On the Brush Settings docker, choose to Create from Contents of Mask

Thanks Patti. That's what is troubling me. Mine don't open in Photo Paint with a transparent background. They open as if inverted. I'll see if I can attach an image...can't see how to attach an image...but I think you will know what I mean. The steps you provide are what I usually do...but..
Robbie said:... what kind of settings are you using to get your posted image? I want to attach a image for you to see but I can't seem to get it below the forum size limit.
I use a freebie program called Irfanview to do quick screen shots. That particular image was then cropped and exported for Web (in Irfanview) as a PNG.
You can use Windows Print Screen key and then paste it into any image editor (e.g. Photo-Paint, Photoshop, etc.). Crop and Resize/Resample in your image editor.
I think the forums's limited to a maximum width of 640 pixels, so cropping or resampling helps. The file size needs to be less that 512 KB or something like that, so export/ save with a resolution of 72 dpi to keep file size lown. I like saving as PNG because it makes a better image and I can resize again it if needed w/o loss of quality.

Ok...Im going to try to attach an image to show you that PNG file.
