Photo Shop brushes in Corel Photo Paint

Need a little help here.  I've made numerous brushes in Photo Paint using Photo Shop brushes converted to PNG's with ABR Viewer.  For some reason I am missing something today as I try to make some from downloaded site.They are Explosions brushes that I downloaded from brusheezy.com.  When imported into Photo Paint and try to make, I get the whole black square instead of the actual brush...like the image needs to be inverted to get just the brush and not the background.  I've looked at danrichard.com and have used his instructions before but they are not updated for x6 but should be close. What am I doing wrong?

    do you want a specific explosion? google it then put it on an overlay layer so you dont have to erase bits that you dont need. I use windows snipping tool if you cant copy an image have a play on fire painter and snip the flames, I downloaded some Ps smoke brushes, they sucked! PP a greyline and Gaussian blur it was heaps better, use the force with corel
