I updated a few files from CDR12 to 16. Some open OK but I get this message with some -
In the file details, under Properties/Details/Origin, the ones that say "Tool Version 16.0.0.1281" will open.
The files that say "Tool Version 16.0.0.999" don't.
Tried copying to other folders with no luck. What options do I have to retrieve these files?
Hello shelley; Were the file made in Corel, or were imported into ver. 12? If you could post one of the files it may help to give you a answer.
George
Hi, George. Yes, the file was created in CDR12. I'm using CDR16 on both a PC and a laptop, both copies are up to date. The PC runs XP Pro; the laptop W7. The files were created on the PC and are being copied to the laptop.
I've since realised I can open the file on the PC, just not the laptop. On opening the file, I updated the fonts and re-saved. The Tool version now says 16.0.0.1281, same as the files that open. However, it still doesn't open on the laptop.
I'm not sure the problem is entirely with the file.
[File atttached - I hope!]
I would start by emptying the %temp% folder and its subfolders if you have not done that already. You can do that either manually (preferably after rebooting) or using a program like cCleaner which you should always obtain direct from piriform.com and never from a google search.
Weird! Absolutely weird.
I opened the file, no problem, with X7 running under Windows 8.1 (both 64 bit) and outside of some font substitutions, it opened nicely.
Then i tried to open the file with X6 (again, 64 bit) and I got your error message of "TEMP or output drive full".
So, I suspect an object or a font that you used may be causing this error.
So, Shelly, what I would suggest is to make a copy of the file, and working with that copy, substitute one font at a time and then try to open the modified file on your laptop.
If that fails, then try eliminating one object (or group of objects) and try the modified file on the laptop, until you find what the cause may be.

Yes, same here ... so ignore the previous suggestion to clean the %temp% folder, there clearly is something that X6 does not like in that file.
But I can open it in X7, resave as X6 and the result now opens in X6.
I've uploaded the resaved X6 file just in case it gives any clues.
Harry - I tried all that. Sorry, I should have said that.
Hugh - funny, but fonts crossed my mind too. There are some odd fonts in there and maybe they're not quite the same in both XP and W7. I tried deleting fonts and objects in the file until it was virtually empty, in which case, I may as well recreate it from scratch! Painful, as I have quite a lot of files that won't open and some of them are quite complex compared to that one. Logically, IMHO, it can't be objects because Draw is the same on both machines and only Draw handles these.
I'll copy across the font files from the PC to the laptop and see what happens. Glad (!) you could see the problem - I don't feel so lonely now!
Harry - sorry, our answers crossed in the ether. I can now open that file without any problems! Yay! I accepted the font substitutes, by the way. Can you do the same for all my other files!
