How do I set in CorelDraw X6 that only a group of graphic elements on a layer is visible or not?
Hello andrugrasu; It can be done by turning off or on of the eye in Object Manager. the icon of the printer will allow or disallow the printing. ( The HELP on the menu bar a Very good place for answers most of the time.) Look at the screen shot below.
George
The visibility attribute can only be applied to the whole layer, not to individual objects or groups.
As an alternative, you could consider creating a new layer and moving the appropriate objects to that layer.
It is unfortunately totally unproductive. See the same file open in Illustrator with the ability to select / deselect the visibility of any item in a group regardless if they are all on the same layer.
andrugrasu; Harry is right about the layers look a the screen shot below the top is one layer turned off, the next is the other layer turned off with the first layer turned back on, and at the bottom both are turned on.
.. I think not understood what I wanted to say. I have a file with a drawing made in Illustrator. When you import Corel, all my items appear grouped in different groups (group 1, group 2, etc. up to 45) on one layer ... but for example if I want to group 5 are "invisible" in Corel can not , while Illustrator is a breeze ...
Well andrugrasu;

I THINK You will not ony like CorelDRAW, but you'll love it once you learn HOW to use it. And what I call unfortunately totally unproductive, is paying the price by the month to use a program that doesn't do anything that I've seen that can't be done in CorelDRAW cheaper.
My Thoughts George
Hi George. I think what he is saying is valid. It would be nice if each item, be it a group shape, curve, whatever, has a visible property. I can see this would be useful for someone who follows a workflow that uses layers.

"Visable" is another way of saying "totally transparent," right? It may be a sort of kludge, but if you select the interactive transparency / uniform / 100, then you can make any single or group of objects invisable...
.. I highlighted a situation that CorelDraw not manage - in my opinion - very productive. For the specific example presented, I would be doing over 50 layers - which takes some time, just so I can make it visible or invisible graphics of a group on one layer. No one should feel offended just an opinion. CorelDraw has positive and negative points.
Group your objects however you want. Then use interactive transparency to make whatever ones you choose transparent at 100%. I assure you they will be invisable, and it only takes a few seconds.
Well I think CorelDraw works just fine with the layers the way it is. But That could be why I didn't get hooked on Adobe in the first place, to try and make a living. But I've always thought if you keep the shovel in the ditch instead of at the water bucket, you could get the job done. andrugrasu if you don't mind me asking, what size power supply you got in that computer? lol
harryLangdon have exhibited better my problem.
TheSign Guy did not really understand the meaning of the question. If you mean the power supply to my computer - power supply unit (PSU) - I say that is 1000 w .. have to check to be fair though.
The layer workflow was changed since X4. I like the new enhancements but I do not agree to what you say George. It needs few old features plus the new ones. As a matter of fact I did not use X4 for a real long time for any of my complex layers jobs till I developed my macro to take care of few older things.

You are right Harry. But unfortunately it's not the case. Rather I think it is Adobe who does not want anyone to use CorelDRAW. Otherwise they would have allowed a way to import a CDR format in Illy and vis-a-vis. It has always been a nightmare to work between these two apps. BTW does Illy now have a CDR import and export filter ?
harryLondon said:The real question should probably be ... if these groups were actually layers in the original illustrator file, then why does CorelDraw import them as groups instead of to layers.
@ Andrugrasu : Illy could be a breeze in this case or say your way of working. Once you have hands on CorelDRAW you will find it Coolest. I have used both the softwares but have not had to go to Illy since long long back. IMO, each app expects certain work flow from the user. That's it.
