CorelDraw had been working just fine now it will load the welcome screen beautifully but won't open any file weather new of existing. The processing bar hangs about 55% and it says command not completed. I have started it with F8 pressed that has made no difference. Any suggestions welcome.
Does it let you create new files?
But the key to most of these problems is did you do anything between when the program last worked and the first time you had a problem. It might be a program you loaded, a program you removed (which maybe also removed something it should not have done) or sometimes a windows update.
No it won't create a new file. Updated windows, CorelDRAW and Anti-virus as usual.
Hello Sam; You can reset Corel by holding down the F8 key, then start Corel. Doing that will also reset your work space. And you might want to clean out the temp files and run a registry cleaner. If you need help doing those things come back and ask.

After that, the next two things to try are:
Reset with F8 before starting the thread. Cleared Temps, Repaired and have all service packs and hotfixes installed. Can't update XP SP3 to .NET 4.5
Next idea...no change still fails command
Repaired .NET 4 now PhotoPaint works just fine only CorelDraw won't load any file not open, nor create new, nor create from template.
Next time you try opening a CDR file, it might be worth noting the exact time and then looking in the windows event viewer to see if there are any errors logged there at or very close to that time.
Those errors could either be in the application or system logs. We are particularly iterested in messages labelled warning or error. Messages labelled "information" can probably be ignored unless they look particularly relevant.
No entries in Even Viewer for that time in any category.
Hello Sam; The Event Viewer should show you what was going on at the time you were running Corel. And MS had a update this week for the .Net''s.
In Event Viewer here are no errors or for that matter any entries for 2 min prior to opening CorelDRAW nor following the failure to open a file or create a new file.
I used to have same problem with my X5.
From tie to time, restarting PC was enough to solve the problem.Next thing I've tried, Troubleshoot compatibility (right click on Corel icon) and I've been offered with an option to put it in XP SP2 compatibility mode, which I did and that solved it for me.
I run Windows 7 Pro 64bit.
