Hi Everyone,
I use to work for a medical journal & duplicating objects is the most used function for me. I switched to notebook from a desktop & one thing is bugging me that I cant duplicate object like I used to do on my desktop using a [+] key on my numpad. It might be working with function keys or maybe something else, I almost tried everything I possibly could. Any suggestions as using ctrl+D won't place the duplicate object on the same place. If some knows anything about it please share
regards,

It can, but you need to configure the offset to zero at tools > options > document > general > duplicate offset. This is a "per document" setting, but you can save settings as default to apply it to new documents.
Same with me...........I use that "+" key a lot.
On my small laptop, I took it a step further. After changing the offset parameters to 0,0, like Harry explained, I also added a + as an icon to one of my toolbars.
So instead of selecting the "+" (on a non-existing num pad), I just select + on the toolbar.
Works even better for me than having to press Ctrl+D
One quick click with a pen/mouse and duplicate is done!
