Hi Everyone,
I use to work for a medical journal & duplicating objects is the most used function for me. I switched to notebook from a desktop & one thing is bugging me that I cant duplicate object like I used to do on my desktop using a [+] key on my numpad. It might be working with function keys or maybe something else, I almost tried everything I possibly could. Any suggestions as using ctrl+D won't place the duplicate object on the same place. If some knows anything about it please share
regards,
Laiq Atiq
Try the attached DupInPlace macro I wrote when I got a "travelling" laptop that does NOT have any NumPad keys at all. I assigned the shortcut + to it. (Shift and the += key just as if you were typing a plus sign).
Here's the macro written out in case you want to see it in writing:
-------------------------------
Sub DupInPlace()
Dim OrigSelection As ShapeRange
Set OrigSelection = ActiveSelectionRange
Dim dup1 As ShapeRange
Set dup1 = OrigSelection.Duplicate
End Sub
---------------------------------
Patti
Thanks
I've downloaded your attached Macro & pasted to my installation directory but it didnt worked, may be am doing something wrong. It will work for Corel X3 & X6 Both right? as I tried to add it in X3.

I'm not positive about X3, I only go back to X4 on my computer. I recorded it again in X4 and it was identical. I have attached this new GMS.
Make sure CorelDRAW is closed. Place the saved file in your User CorelDRAW GMS folder. The path should be similar for X3 as I recall. On Windows 7 the path is:
C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Corel\CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X4\User Draw\GMS
To run the macro, go to Tools>Macros>Run Macros, and choose it from the list.
Once you are sure it works, go to Tools>Options. Under Customization>Commands, select Macros from the drop down list. Find the DupInPlace module and create a shortcut for it.
Worked like a Charm, Bunch of Thanks
You're very welcome. Glad it worked for you!
When I got this small HP notebook it did not have a NumPad within the letter keys like most notebooks do. I was lost without that plus sign duplicate so I created the macro. Another annoying thing was the notebook function keys and F-keys were reversed. I was able to change that in BIOS thank goodness. It amazing how we get used to using these shortcuts in CorelDRAW.
