I'm starting some designs to be cut out of vinyl and wanted to put registration marks on the drawing so I can line different cuts up. Can't figure out how these work. Someone want to give me some info on exactly how do I put registration marks in?
Normally, you don't need to put them in. Just choose an appropriate page size and when you print or publish to PDF choose the appropriate marks option. They will then be automatically created in the correct position and colour to mark the four corners of the page on every separation. You can also select additional marks -- the PDF prepress tab also has options for registration marks, file information and densitometer scales (the latter probably not very useful for vinyl).
Crop and registration marks are always outside the perimeter of the page, so you'll need you'll need to print to material that is up to an inch larger than the design page in both directions.
There's more information in the help file: http://product.corel.com/help/CorelDRAW/540240626/Main/EN/Doc/wwhelp/wwhimpl/js/html/wwhelp.htm?context=CorelDRAW_Help&topic=IDDH_DEFAULT_HELP_PAGE&single=
I generally use Harry's method for analog screen printed jobs (digital print jobs use a different method) but for multicolored vinyl projects I'll create my own register targets and place them as necessary. The register targets are created from a .125" x 1.00" box, duplicated, rotated 90 degrees and welded together. One of the colors need to cut the entire part, the other can be just the graphic and register targets. Then just cut, weed, premask and assemble.
Thank both of you for your replies and information. It has helped. Sometimes I just go blank (age related likely).
