Hello
I am fairly new to Coreldraw X6. I just started working with a Wacom Bamboo Pen. I am following a tutorial I found on the net demonstrating sketching over an existing photo. The brush this person is using is not available in my version of Coreldraw. I have tried to create my own and have configured the pen tablet under the options tab.
Here
No matter what brush I use, I cannot get this kind of effect. Every brush I use is too heavy. - even the ones I created. No matter what pressure I apply to the pen, I get the same heavy stroke Can someone explain? Is this a special brush or is this an adjustment I am missing?
It's probably best just to create a new one. In X6 I didn't see it there either under the Artistic category.
Try creating 3-4 ellipses ---on top of each other and staggered -- with varying degrees of black (grayscale) and save as a brush .
Mike, very informative. I created a similar shape using ellipses and then converting them to curves. I achieved a similar effect. Would you mind describing the process you use for making brushes. I want to make sure I am doing it correctly.
Also, do you know how I can prevent nodes from showing up on each stroke?

There really isn't a process for me, it depends on what you need as a final result. I will create a vector object, sometimes with many objects and features, then drag that "group" of vectors into the "Artistic Media" flyout window and save as brush.

As soon as you click the "Pick Tool', they should disappear, or start another line.
If you need more assistance there are a lot of brilliant forum members here. Here are some examples of the Artistic Brush possibilities.
Those are really cool , Mike and thank you. I was told this is the place to go to gain knowledge.
I guess the reason I asked about the nodes is because I was getting a message saying "this object does not work well as a brush." I clicked do no display again and saved anyway.
When I use something like the interactive blend tool to create a brush, I will get a shape with a bunch of nodes. Then when I save and use the new brush, each stroke has nodes all over it. This becomes very distracting when I am trying to sketch in a feature that requires many strokes.

This is probably because an effect, such as a transparency is being applied to the object, I have had no success with this. Build simple objects with basic fills first,

I'm not sure which nodes you are referring too. But when you draw a line, depending how smooth you have the smoothness set too, will dictate how many nodes are along that line. Set "Freehand Smoothing" to 100! But remember, the objects fill colors can't have transparencies, nor gradients. It is just one of the many things needed as an update, but for now, nope.
Mike
Thanks Mike. I deleted a few of the nodes when creating the object and it helped a little bit. I was referring to the nodes that show up when I make a stroke with the brush I created - or any brush for that matter. They do disappear when I make another stroke, but I wish they didn't show up at all.
I did what you suggested and staggered the shades of grey/black and did not add the blend tool. It looks pretty good.
I still wish I could control the size of each stroke with the pressure I apply to the pen .

Set your initial stroke weight a little fatter, then draw lightly and heavier, it should give you more thickness.
