In the old Corel Ventura, it was easy to add a line (technically a "rule") above and below a selected paragraph. I cannot find a way to do that in CorelDraw.
I've inserted a column of text in a text frame and then separated two lines of it with a carriage return. Now I want to highlight just those two lines by placing a horizontal rule above the first line (width of the column, not just the text), plus another horizontal rule below the bottom line. I may also need to add distance between the rules and the lines of text (space above and below the text).
This is a typical way of inserting call-out quotes in a column of text. Can anyone give me instructions on how it might be done in CorelDraw?
If the only way to do this is the put the two lines in their own text box, then how would I specify that the frame should have rules only across the top and bottom, not all four sides of the frame?
Thanks.
I'm with Mike We on this I use indesign or quark if I need paragraph styles and actual publishing styles.
I'd like to see corel do something but they have been out of this area for so long I doubt there is a market left for them.
It would have to be a separate program there is no easy way to do this in Corel draw unless the made a separate workspace and tools that could be loaded

In addition to Ross' mention of ID and QXP, I would add PagePlus for most any layout work that does not need to be exchanged/worked on by others (unless they are also using PP, of course). It is a very capable layout application. The newest version is imminent and I am hoping Serif closes the gap towards ID even more. Right now, PPX7 lacks running headers and footers, image captioning, and figure numbering. It excels with OTF features, etc. Once X8 hits, I suspect the now current version will only cost around $30 USD or so.
One of the issues with trying to get more of CD in the layout/desktop publishing aspect is that CD's ability to handle long documents is the text engine. It is dog slow compared to any actual layout application. Aside from the hoops one needs to do to have any consistent use of styles, the rendering is painfully slow once one is linking text frames across pages (heck, a single page makes me wanna gouge my eyes out).
