How to enable Edit Bitmap tab on Property Bar

How to enable Edit Bitmap tab on Property Bar

  • You will need to install photopaint if it is not already installed.

Then in windows explorer, right click on any .cpt file (export one from CorelDraw if you do not already have one) and select open with.

Do not click any of the offered options, but instead select choose default program.

Select photopaint and make sure the option Always use... is on before pressing OK.

    • Did not work for me... this happened as I installed the corel x7 trial.. So I guess I'll have to uninstallit. I tried the procedure mentionned above, rebooted and did not work, I rebooted Corel while pressing f8 ( reset default settings) does not work either.. I guess there is an advanced option to click in the settings...
      • I finally went to control panel, uninstalled x7... clicked on Corel draw x6 and chose 'repair'.... worked the first time !!!

Just trying to clarify what happened here, in case there is an improvement we could ask Corel to consider.

          • What trial did you install? Was it just CorelDraw, or did you also install photopaint?
          • Did it definitely happen immediately you installed, or could it have happened later -- eg when the trial expired after 30 days?

          • This was on my laptop wich I only use on the road visiting clients. So from my observation , yes it happened after I installe the whole corel draw x7 suite ( paint , capture connect etc..). I installed the trial in order to, of course see and experience the improvments before buying. I did not have the chance to do so, since I noticed the 'edit bitmap', wich has always been up there was gone while working on a client's file... I never use the trials on client's file because they would not open afterwards on previous versions...
            • In principle, installing X7 should cause all versions of CorelDraw (including X6) to use X7 photopaint to edit bitmaps. So the implication is that X7 photopaint may not have installed properly -- perhaps did not set all necessary settings in the registry.

If you uninstall X7, then it is necessary to run at least a repair installation of X6 in order to rebuild the link to X6 photopaint, but you seem to have figured that out already.
              • FYI that as of Corel X8, this issue is still around.  I had X8 installed, tried the trial for CD 2020, then uninstalled it.  That is when the issue began and I had to Repair the X8 installation.  Thanks to you for the solution.

              • Daniel Gervais was absolutely on target with the fix for this. I had the same issue with Draw X8. Even support at Corel couldn't help. By going to the control panel, select uninstall a program, click on the version of Corel Draw you use, and select Repair, it will fix it. At least, it did for me!
