I have a number of shaped name tags in a fixed array for laser cutting 100 items. I need to locate multiple individual names on each. Can someone please explain an easy way of doing it automatically?
I don't know if it would work for your specific needs, but you might look at my example using print merge and imposition layout in this thread.
If it doesn't suit your needs to format one piece on a page and then use imposition layout, you could instead use a print merge, but with multiple fields, and then lay out the array exactly the way you want.

From there, you have the option to "Merge to New Document", which creates a .CDR file in which the merge fields have been replaced by the field contents from the .CSV file:
