Greetings all.
Recently (last 1-2 days) CorelDraw x7 has been taking a lot longer than normal to copy/cut.
All other functions seem completely normal. Pasting seems almost instant.
I have tested on a new file with just a square, and it's the same delay (7-8 seconds) as when I copy a huge bit of artwork.
I've made no alterations to any settings, installed any new software or otherwise altered my system in the last few days, so I'm at a loss to explain it.
I have installed the latest update (Current version is 17.2.0.688).
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Hello Tom; Try cleaning out your "Temp" files. You haven't said anything about the system you are running but in Windows 7 it's done as the screen shot below by going to the Windows Start menu and typing in the Search box %temp%, then select the Temp dir., them select all files ( Ctrl+a ) and delete.
George
Thanks for your reply George, I had high hopes for this fix (27gb of temp files!).
I deleted the temp files, unfortunately it didn't make any difference at all :(
Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using win7 64bit.
I'm still getting that same 7-8 seconds delay, doesn't seem to matter how large the thing I'm copying is.
You have rebooted I suppose? And tried running CorelDraw on its own as the first and only program running since the reboot?
The clipboard in windows seems to be built with a lot of string and sealing wax. Its also something that trojans and spyware are likely to intercept, in the hope of finding confidential information and passwords. So a problem with the clipboard should probably first suggest a good antivirus scan, windows system file checker, malicious software removal etc.
If you have not intentionally installed any new software, a windows system restore may bring the clipboard functionality back.
@ George
I have about 1500 fonts, so not that many really, however I've not added any new ones in the last few days and this issue only started happening a day or two ago. Corel starts up fine, and all other functions work as expected. I've had no issues whatsoever with system speed at all (my system runs completely fine with all other software, other than this one recent issue).
@ Harrylondon
Tried rebooting and running Corel only on a minimal startup, I've also run a virus scan (although I always keep my system very secure and run scans regularly anyway). I've also tried clearing the windows clipboard.
I have no problems with any other software at all, and I've no problems with my computer generally - this seems to be a Corel specific problem that's cropped up recently - Copying in any other software works completely normally (virtually instantly), yet for some reason I'm still getting that same 7-8 second delay on any copy/cut in Corel Draw.
I just had a thought and tried it - Corel Photo Paint X7 copies/cuts instantly - so it's definitely an issue with CorelDraw only.
I presume you know that if you just want to duplicate an object in CorelDraw you can use the + key on the numeric keyboard ? This is functionally equivalent to copy to clipboard and then paste back, but does not actually use the windows clipboard so usually happens a lot faster.
But this is no good if you want to copy or paste to or from some other program.
Clipboard problems are often caused by other programs on the system, but there is no easy way to find out which other programs are using the clipboard.
I did not know that! And that works instantly, much like the normal ctrl+C I usually use used to.
At least that solves the issue for now.
Thanks Harry, George for your time and help. :)
