Has anyone used the bezier tool in x7? When i "pull the arc" it lags and sometimes doesn't work at all. Anyone else having this issue? I've tried it on 2 separate computers and same thing.
Hello svend; Some computers are faster than others, and if two computers are setup the same way they would take about the same time to do something. I don't have to wait, but I'm luckier than some. you can go into setup and play with the settings to get whats best to use for your system. I Hope this is Some Help, Good Luck.
George
Hey George, thanks for your reply. I've been using CorelDraw for 10 years and never had this issue until i updated to x7. I am running windows 8, i7 processor, 16gb ram. I guess you aren't having the same issue in x7?
A further thought ... what are you doing with the beziers? Is there something behind the bezier? Is it a bit image? Perhaps you are manually tracing a bit image?
If you are, then that could be the reason. Every time you move the bezier, CorelDraw and/or windows must redraw that bit image.
So, if you do have a bit image behind your bezier, try temporarily halving its resolution, which will have the effect of reducing the number of pixels to a quarter. See if it also reduces the time taken.
Harry, its to do with something going on as a background process. I have noticed it when tracing a bitmap, an 18mega pixel image, occasionally it lags, if you open a Task Manager window, highlight CPU column, keep it on top then go about your work, every time it lags the Draw CPU is higher than normal.
Dont know what Draw is doing but its defintely something and its noticeable. And its not redraw related as for the most part its fine, just every so often it lags.
I have this problem but I think it is actually related to the "Straight Line Threshold" setting...if you turn it down to 1 (the lowest setting) it happens less...I think "the lag" is actually your mouse being pulled to the side without going up or down past the threshold to trigger a corner, bezier curve or straight line...try making a shape and drag a diagonal line then level it off the curve to a straight line and notice how it only kicks in the bezier handles after your cursor goes up or down a bit off the height of the original node click spot...it seems as if the threshold is a bit more than 1 pixel even though the setting says 1...
Straight Line Threshold made no difference here. Indeed I get the lag with a fresh start of Draw, single document no objects, single bezier curve being drawn. Seems to be worse when the node placement snaps onto a portion of curve previously drawn.
Pen tool also affected but all other curve drawing tools are OK.
OK, so I can confirm that you are right the Straight Line Threshold doesn effect it like I thought but does dragging straight up or down have no influence on how much your bezier handles are delayed? If I drag a handle out directly to the side or directly up or down it will not display the bezier handle untill I move the mouse cursor off of a straight line in that direction...it doesn't do this in X3 or X5...
Trying to attach a video demo of what I am experiencing...
Confirming the same problem as described by somecalmetim

Yes you are right, however here it happens when pulling the handle vertically as well as horizontally.
