We used to have CorelDraw X5 and you could select an object and see the geometric area of that object. How do you do this in X7??? We work in full scale and need to find the area of shapes. Thanks
Bob,
Where do you see the shape/curve Area on the Object Properties docker? I only see node info and curve length. I use this old Isocalc macro. I'll attach it here as soon as I can figure out how to do it in this new forum format! Edit...Let's see if I got the file attached...or inserted.
This macro still works in X7, with the exception of its Perimeter button). GetArea12c.gms

Saad Nagi said:Thanks for sharing the macro, Patti. This is quite helpful, and the values seem intelligible, but do we know how it calculates the area? What dimensions does it look at, and how does it treat a given shape, to generate the result? Does it get a convex hull of each shape, for instance? I'm using it in X8 to measure the area of a variety of different shapes (JPEG images), and it seems to work but I'm not sure how it does it. Any detail on this would be much appreciated.
You can view the macro code in the Macro Editor. Right-click on the module (showGetArealite) in the MacroManager docker and choose Edit. Once in the Macro Editor, choose right-click on the Calculate button and choose View Code. You'll be able to see the code Mr. Wilkinson used for this macro. I can see it, but I still have no idea how it works!
... GetArea12c is the same as GetAreaX7, right?
In the GetAreaX7 I removed a part that did not work in X7/X8. It's been too long and I can't remember exactly what it was I removed, but I do remember it no longer worked because it used Corelscript.
There is still a professional tool to calculate the area and perimeter

Saad, its Gauss's formula. Works perfectly with certain approximation.
