Back in X5, when I printed a radial fountain fill (consisting of 2 spot colors) to pdf using Acrobat, the result would be one element (using the edit object tool in Acrobat or bringing into Illustrator).
Now in X7, using the identical settings and the same file, the result is a gazzillion separate lines.
Does anyone know if it's possible to get a single element?
Thanks so much!

Whether the fill is exported as a gradient fill or a "gazillion separate lines" depends on the type of fill.
Draw can create fills that are not supported by the PDF file format, and therefore the export filter has to simulate these fills by creating a bunch of object, lines (rectangles) or ovals for example, depending on the type of fill.
Easiest way to "destroy" a fill is to move the mid-point node. *Reason the fill worked from X5 but not from X7 is because the fills were reconstructed in X7.Some things were corrected and new features were added, like Free Scale and Skew which made it possible to create elliptical fills for example.Apparently something was also changed that makes it impossible to export the fill if the mid-point has been moved. The conical fill is not supported either by the way, never has been.
* You can add color nodes to a fill but you must never move the mid-point node between them. They must always be at 50% between two color nodes.
Ignore my previous post. [:$]I forgot this was the X7 forum when I tried again this morning, and accidentally used X8 instead of X7.So in short, what I said yesterday for X7 was true: Move the mid-node and the fill will be destroyed in the PDF.For X8 however, it seems to work as good as it can.Fountain fills are exported correctly, except for conical fills as they are still not supported in the PDF format.Sorry for any confusion caused by my previous post. [:S]Also noticed now that this is an old thread started by Joan, and that Myron restarted it a couple of days ago.
Myron and Ronny I'd be in big trouble with out you two (and Ariel) Thank you.
But here it is 2 years and several versions later and this is the exact issue I'm having. I have fountain fills with between 3 & 5 different colors in them and when I save as Acrobat DC PDF (and any other versions as is seems) it bands all the colors. These are not what I'd consider complex fills I have used rotate for the fills.
I was able to fix a bit of it when I changed my export color to 'native'. But couldn't fix some of the other fills that would break up in Acrobat until I changed the node position to 50%. Which messes with the look I'm looking for.
I found it interesting and slightly alarming- that I found this to be a problem.
I'm using Corel Draw subscription 2018 and Acrobat Pro DC.
Nanci
Hello, Nanci, what settings are you using for publish as PDF?
Thank you Ronny and Ariel for your replies.
I don't know why or how, but today everything worked as it should be regardless of where my nodes are or how many colors are in my fill!
Yes I rebooted before I posed this question yesterday.
Hi There
I have tried and tested this and I know what the problems is. If anyone wants to know, you welcome to message me. I am currently using coreldraw 17.
