I had been using x4 and now have x7. Originally when needing to remove one single line from a double line I would use the VSD tool. It would delete the top-most line. Which is fine as long as one line is removed it didn't matter which for me. Now with x7 the same tool now simply deletes all the lines. DEAR GOD TELL ME THERE IS A WAY TO FIX THIS. I really don't need this on a Monday when returning to work and having to stop and learn how to do something I've been doing one way for a very long time. Since changing editions I have been very disappointed in the new program.
OK real simple here.
I am drawing a doorway. Like in pict one.
Now I use the VSD to get rid of the DOUBLE LINE. Only it doesn't erase the topmost it deletes them all like in pict 2.
When all I want it the result in pict 3. IN FACT I DON'T CARE WHICH LINE IT ERASES. JUST AS LONG AS ONE IS LEFT.
The reason it behaves differently is that, in X5 I think it was, it became possible to edit two or more objects with the Shape Tool at the same time.
VSD, being a particular variant of the Shape Too, can't see that you only want to erase one and, since it can, it will erase both. Simple solution Is to lock the Blue rectangle (right click > Lock Object) Use VSD , then Unlock the Blue Rectangle. Or Just stretch the red rectangle down using the bottom middle handle , then apply VSD on the overhaning part of the red rectangle. I appreciate it might seem backward that it just worked for you in X4 and now it doesn't, but often improvements in functionality throw up quirks that have to be got round.
I use this program to create cutting templates for my laser. The reason I'm annoyed which this miracle update by Corel is when putting a bunch of pieces together to be cut. See picture. My laser reads the Corel file as a series of lines to cut into a 12x24" sheet. So when you have to put a bunch of "doors" on one sheet. The work compounds when I have to delete and redraw a zillion lines. Because if I leave the overlapping line. The laser will retrace the same path twice which is unnecessary since it already cut through and items are priced partially on how long it takes to cut out.
