Hi,
I'm trying to import .dxf file which I was able to import to X7 CorelDraw, to my newly purchased X8 (Home & Student). I get an error message:
---------------------------CorelDRAW Home & Student X8---------------------------Either 'myfile.dxf' is not importable using the selected filter, or this format is not supported---------------------------OK---------------------------
Is this a common problem or am I doing something wrong?
Any help appreciated
The Home & Student version doesn't have all of the features of the full version. I don't have a copy of H & S, and the information that Corel provides on-line does not have a comprehensive description of the differences.
See the CorelDRAW X8 Product Family Comparison matrix. The list of excluded "Pro Features" is in a footnote.
For some information on this for X7 - and I assume that some of the limitations may be similar for X8 - you might look at the posts from Tony Severenuk in this thread:
Differeces [sic] between X7 Home and regular Version?
Read the fine print carefully. I have been using Corel Draw for 30 years. There are still bugs that have not been fixed. I bought Student and Home edition. Useless. Every time I need a critical feature, it isn't there! Save your money, what use is a stripped down version? I can't even export or import graphics with the most popular graphic extensions, like dxf, autocad, or anything else of value. They don't even explain in detail what is not included. I think it borders on fraud. No question the price is right, but what use is a McDonalds hamburger, if it doesn't include bun, meat, or cheese! A pickle is not a cheeseburger, and Home & Student Corel Draw is not a graphic package, it is a teaser-sampler-demo-trick.
I agree that the H&S version is almost useless, but they already explained the difference:
https://www.coreldraw.com/static/cdgs/product_content/cdgs/hs2018/coreldraw-home-student-2018-comparison-matrix-en.pdf
and it's for non-comercial works, only for practice or simple jobs a home. Yes, it's also useless for me, but some people could use it. It's more than a McDonald's burger without butger, It's like comparing a mobile hot-dog stand with a luxury restaurant
For my personal point of view, I'll prefer to have a version 9.0 updated for work under Windows 7/10
