Is there a way to change the on screen cursor shape of the eraser tool in Photo Paint X8?

Is there a way to change the on screen cursor shape of the eraser tool in Photo Paint X8? I know I can change the nib shape, but the actual cursor that moves on the screen is shaped like an eraser and I can't see the bounding edges of the size and shape I'm erasing. It used to visibly show as a circle or a square etc. Now I can't really tell how close the area I'm about to erase is to the edge of something.

    There's a setting in Options > Workspace > General, or two actually.
    One is the "Cursor type" dropdown and the other is "Shape cursor for brush tools".
    I'm not sure exactly how they work or which tools they affect but I presume you have "Shape cursor for brush tools" disabled, so start by checking the box and see if it makes any difference.
