PhotoPaint and Draw suddenly developed an annoying problem. When I double-click the icon, it says "Initializing user interface" and then sits there doing nothing for several minutes. Eventually the program starts and then works perfectly. Also CorelCapture does nothing for several minutes, not even a splash screen, when I double-click the icon. Then it comes up and works normally. Corel QPro does not have these problems; it's fine. Any thoughts?
Have you cleaned out the (Windows) system Temp directory, lately? Cleaning that out may speed up the start time for Draw as well as many other applications.
To clean the Temp directory, open Windows Explorer, and in the navigation bar, enter '%temp%' (without the quote marks) and hit Enter. Once there, click on any file or directory in the right side of Windows Explorer, and then hit Ctrl-A (Select all) then hit delete. Windows will delete all unused and unopened files and sub-directories. Windows will not allow you to delete any active temp file/directory that is in current use.
Thanks for that. The cleanout did not help, but it did reveal an interesting Draw startup log file that has some huge time jumps in it. The comments in it mean nothing to me, but in case any support personnel are reading this, here are the three big time-eating sections:
