Inaccuracy problem

(Forgiveness for any misspelling, english is not my native language)

I will show the problem, in printscreen it will be easier to explain.

  • Yes, I see the same behavior in X7. Quite similar to this post.

    • If I do this, and then apply a dimension to check the distance between the two straight lines, it indicates a distance of 0.0004 millimeters.

I don't know if CorelDraw is intended for drawing more precisely than that at such a small scale!

If I had to create something that small, and I had to design it using CorelDraw, then I think that I would do the design work at a significantly larger scale, where those sorts of errors are (relatively) much smaller.

Sorry, but... at 274.912% of zoom...?????? this is a problem for you? I couldn't understand it. If you enlarge 275.000 times and the difference is just one millimeter, that means the real difference is 0.0000036. mm .. that means 3.6 nanometers!!! that's useful to measure an atomic particle! Can you explain a little more, please?

      • There used to be a setting in Draw for the Drawing Precision, this has now been removed, certainly in the 64bit version. Whether this is still available by hacking the registry or indeed whether it would influence this problem I do not know.

However, I would argue that anyone needing to draw to this level of precision is using the wrong software. Draw will place objects to 3 decimal places (thats 0.001mm or 1µm) and I think thats probably good enough for the task for which it was designed. The fact that rendering even hairline outlines at this size is problematic is reason enough to believe it exceeds the capabilities of the of the program.

I'm guessing Intel engineers laying out chips on a silicon wafer dont use Draw or Illy!!

HOWEVER, this particular problem IS a BUG, though one that will affect nobody in the normal use of the software.

        1. E.g, select both of the horizontal lines and align them by hitting 'E' . They do align.
        2. Use the shape tool and manually align the nodes, they do with perfect precision.
        3. Drag one of the lines with Snap To Objects ON and they will align perfectly.

If you really want to design at this precision level you probably need a CAD package not an illustration application.

Not even sure I would want to report this to Corel TBH
