I have accidentally clicked on the welcome screen house icons while I have several files open. This locks up Corel. It just spins and spins never comes back. Its doesn't say not responding. I end up having to close corel to be able to work again and hope my open files were saved.
Please fix! It has happened several times.
Why not disable the Welcome Screen?

Here is the accidental click source. It can't be disable IMHO
I have the full English version, under the tools menu, options, general (I believe) on CorelDRAW X8 startup select nothing.
This is one of the first things I always disable, under Tools/options/workspace /general, so I didn't noticed this issue- Anyway, it's an error and it should be fixed

I also disable the welcome screen on startup.
As icefront has already posted in this thread, that doesn't make the "house" icon go away.

Excellent!
Thank you, Ariel!
