How is everyone today? I am having a challenge and I hope I can receive some help. I'm using CorelDraw X8 to draw artistic patterns for plasma cutting. when I draw an arch the end nodes connect and convert the single line into a connected curve. I would like to to have a single curved line that isn't connected. Is there a setting I've missed? thank you.
For a little further information, I draw in wireframe mode and I only see the connected curve when I switch the view of drawing to enhanced.
For a visual image, imagine a " C " I want to cut the C in one line. In wire frame mode it looks like a C, when I view in enhanced mode the beginning and end of the C is connected.
I can't be absolutely sure, but I think you might be talking about whether a Curve is "closed" or not.
If that's the case, then look at the Shape tool and the associated editing capabilities. For example, selecting a node on a closed curve and "breaking" the curve there will cause that curve to no longer be closed.
I believe we are talking about the same thing. Thank you for the reply. I see where you can close the curve and break apart nodes. Nothing for breaking apart curve. And yes I've tried the break apart function and It doesn't give me the desired result.
Here are two videos showing:
VIDEO: Open Curve (using right-click from a selected node).
VIDEO: Open Curve 2 (using the "Break Curve" button on the Property Bar).
Here is a video showing:
VIDEO: Open Curve 3.
Personally, I think that making "Close Curve" a toggle for opening a Curve is a confusing UI design - but it works that way, so I covered it.
How are you? I'm trying to receive an answer to my question. I took some photos of an example of what I'm trying to cut out on my plasma table. The first photo is a flat disc. The second photo is of a circle drawn inside the outer disc. The third photo has the cardinal points removed from the inner circle. I used the erase option ( in the past I've used other option; segment tool, add/remove nodes etc. and ended with the same result)
.
I'd like to cut out the single curved lines in the disc. The view of the above photos are in simple wireframe, when I switch the view to enhanced this is what I see and this is also what Sheet Cam try's to tool path.
You can see the "half moon's" that Coreldraw has created. The last
You can see the "half moon's" that Coreldraw has created. The last photo is of the node information on one of the lines I'd like to cut.
If I were to draw a single straight line on the disc I wouldn't have the issues I'm having with the single curved lines, is there something I'm missing?
Sorry Eskimo for the cut and paste. I had my response deleted three times and the above was my solution. I tried what you suggested with no luck. I hope the above photos show what I'm trying to accomplish.
You can see in the photo of the enhanced picture the "half moon shapes" When I export the drawing to Sheet cam. Sheet cam try's to tool path the half moon shapes and not the single curved lines I want.
Under Options->Document->General, there is a checkbox for "Fill open curves".
Is that checkbox checked for the document you are working on?
I tried submitting pics. again no luck. Under tools - options - general or document I don't have the above option.
