Since 1994 I'm using with full satisfaction CorelDraw v.5 passing from Win 3.10 to Win 7 - 32bits. Due to PC evolution I'm obliged to go to 64bits, but I did not found yet a simpler 2D drawing tool as CorelDraw version 5. What to do ?
Thanks

No need anymore of a Virtual PC I downloaded Trial version CorelDraw X7 - 32 bits into Win 7PRO of my old PC. Very frustrating to discover that all CDR files developed until now with CorelDraw 5 cannot be uploaded by CorelDraw X7 since too old and not supported anymore. Corel against Corel ! Really useless complicated compared with my version 5 of 1994. For me is the end of story.
I did asked Corel Company, 2 or 3 years ago, if the simple CDR module of version 4, 5 or 6 could be put back on the marked for the benefit of thousand naval and aero modellers like me sitting around the world. No reply ! Corel, like Microsoft, are producing almost every 2/3 years new version of their software, but I'm not sure with the satisfaction of their users, old and new. interesting to read here : http://www.coreldraw.com/us/pages/history/?pgid=2100019 I was thinking about Apple, but actually too expensive for me ! I do not understand why old CDR Files could not be read by recent Corel Software. I do not know if older version do the same. I will also consider Solid Work or AutoCAD and convert the ~45000 CDR files into DXF or EPS.
Another consideration, assume that the most recent Word software would refuse to open files written 30 years ago. It will be a disaster at world level since an enormous amount of files will be lost !
