Why are you surprised George? This section is for older versions of Corel. :-)

Counting me, there are at least couple of people running older OS and Corel, but I suspect that for various reasons, there are many more of us out there.

Win 98SE will happily run older versions of Corel. I have a desktop with that OS which runs my old Alps printer and also Corel 10. I then have an old laptop which has Corel 7 an Corel 3 (yes, 3) installed. I sometimes find the need to take a trip down the memory lane. :-) I also have XP machine running Corel 12. I also have CDs with Corel 4 and 8.

As far as the original question goes, I don't know. I never tried to customize any menus by deleting the default options. I have added paper sizes but not removed the standard ones.

George, you sound like shill working for Corel - upgrade, upgrade, upgrade! What you need to understand that some users do not need all the latest bells-n-whistles, or lightning-fast speed.

The laptop with CD3 and 7 is only used if I need to translate the old CDR files to something CD10 will understand.

My Win98SE desktop is an AMD Athlon 1.2GHz with 1Gb of RAM I have a 24" LCD monitor attached (1920x1080). I don't ever notice any slowness when running Corel. I mainly use Corel for my hobbies or to make up some documentation. Hobby use is mostly to draw decal artwork - fairly simple arttwork. Even with CD10 I probably barely use a 1/4 of its features. Why in the world would I want to learn all the new features and layout of X7?!

I know that it must be difficult for you, but now do you see why I see no need for an upgrade, and that in my world everything is perfectly fine? :-)

Hello Peteski; I really DON'T know what SHILL sounds like. But if you want to tell me the email is below. I don't care What ver. you use as long as it is Corel. It cost a LOT of money to have this place to come to to ask questions. And that money comes from Selling the products they have. If you bought ver 3 New you Should know there were NO place to go for Help with the program. I Don't even care if you try and help people with Corel or not. I'm pretty sure when they get electrical ser. there and you don't have to put a piece of wood in the stove to cook You'll do better. Yea, just think if not for this place you would have to jump on your mule and ride for a couple of mouths just to talk mhristau about his Corel.

I'm not sure why you seem to getting upset. I bought (Not pirated) my older versions of Corel - the company got my money and it helped them fund the newer versions which you are using.

When you buy a piece of software, does it come with an expiration date and you aren't supposed to use that older software or be forced to upgrade?! I didn't think so (even though you make it sound like I'm doing a disservice to all by keeping on using the older software). If i find a way to make the older software work, and it does what I need, there is no reason for me to upgrade.

Corel created this section of their free forum for people like me. That means they expect people out there to continue using older software and have questions about it. You are probably right that it is the money you paid for your new version (rather than the money I paid way back when) which pays for supporting this forum. But if Corel didn't do well back in the past, they could have went out of business and we would not have any official Corel forums now.

A agree that it is nice of Corel to provide their users with an online forum to discuss things on, but it is far from being the only place do do this on. There are other (absolutely free and unrelated to the company) online forums and discussion groups for Corel. One I'm active in is CDUG on Yahoo Groups. So, even without this place I would be able to try gettign help with my older versions of Corel.

I think that both Mhristau and I both gave you valid explanations of why we keep on using the older version of Corel (not that we really needed to explain ourselves). If you need to keep up with the latest and greatest, it is your choice - just let others do what they need to do (and keep on using older versions of Corel).

As far as "shill" goes, if you don't know what that means, you .have a powerful computer and access to the Internet - look it up. Go to google and type in "define shill" in the search box. To me your responses almost seems like Corel put you here to tell users that upgrading to the latest version is a cure for all their problems, and answer to all their questions. That is just how I see it.

For my personal experience, CorelDRAW 9.0 was the best version ever.

Yep, I still think of version 9 fondly too. It was very reliable and fast to work with.
